Mrs. Thorsten has been a teacher at SJAS since 1995. She has taught Pre-Kindergarten, Phy-Ed, Computer, 1st grade, and is now teaching the all day, every day Kindergarten class. Mrs. Thorsten attended St. Cloud State University. Mrs. Thorsten and her husband Chad live in Foley with their two children, Emma who is 5 and Logan who is 3. The Thorstens are excitedly waiting for the arrival of their new baby - due the end of November. Mrs. Thorsten enjoys riding bike, scrapbooking, and taking pictures. She is a graduate of SJAS! She received the LEEA (Leadership in Educational Excellence Award) in 2004.

About the Classroom

Reading – We will be working with each letter sound. Try to think of words that begin with each letter sound, work on site words, and putting sounds together to create words.
Math – We will work on counting, measuring, comparing groups, and introduce addition and subtraction.
Religion – We will talk about God’s world and how much we are loved.
Social/Science – We will explore our world.
Centers – We will have centers each week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Each center will explore various subjects with hands-on learning.
