Mrs. Riba
started teaching in
the fall of 2008 at SJAS, though you may have seen her previous years
as a substitute teacher. She had also been a substitute in other local
districts for three years prior to joining SJAS.
A graduate of
Mount Mercy
College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her previous work experience includes
working at a before-and-after school program, various daycare centers,
as well as serving as a Lead Teacher at Sylvan Learning Center. Mrs.
Riba lives in Rice with her husband, Nick. She loves spending time
at the lake with her family, cooking, and reading anything she can get
her hands on!

About the Classroom
- Reading: learn different comprehension strategies, reading centers and book clubs
- Math: subtraction across zeros, multiplication and division, fractions and decimals
- English: parts of speech (nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives) and learn thr writing process
- Social Studies: communities, Lewis and Clark, Natives Americans geography
- Science: solar system, human body, weather and air
- Religion: Four Marks of the Catholic Church, Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary, Apostles Creed
- Handwriting: cursive
Other Things to Know
- Planners are used for communication and need to be signed daily
- AR Expectations: We use a point system in our classroom. Each AR book is worth a certain number of points depending on difficulty/length. Students must pass AR test to earn points. A minimum of 15 points are needed each quarter.
