Pre-Kindergarten Program

Pre-K Programs:
Pre-Kindergarten Program (Morning only): 8:00am-11:30am.
Multi-Age Program (Afternoon only/Optional): 11:30am-2:45pm.
At Saint John’s Area School Pre-Kindergarten programs, our goal is to inspire a lifelong love of learning in a play-based program that fosters each child’s intellectual, creative, social, emotional, physical, spiritual and moral development. We provide a nurturing environment that allows each child to learn by doing, using curriculum that responds to the children’s needs, growth, and interests. Children experience child-directed and teacher-guided activities, as well as the opportunity to work individually, in small groups, and in large groups. Our program gives each child the opportunity to develop into a happy, conscientious, confident learner who is prepared for success both in school and in life.
Typical Day: On any given day your child will have the opportunity to explore art, music, language, science, technology, engineering and math. We will have indoor and outdoor free and organized play. Our day begins with free play, giving the children the opportunity to connect with each other. We have a morning prayer and a class meeting to talk about the calendar, weather, classroom responsibilities, and read a story based on our learning theme. Throughout the day there are various group time opportunities and the chance for individual exploration based on our learning theme. Snack is offered in the morning. Our day ends with free play and a loving and grateful prayer. A detailed schedule is posted in the classroom and is subject to change based on the needs of the children.
Classes: Class sizes are 10 and under per group with 1 full-time teacher. Class groups are Monday, Wednesday, every other Friday OR Tuesday, Thursday, every other Friday from 8:00AM to 2:45PM September through May (with the exception of school-release days and holidays). An annual school calendar is provided at the start of the school year.
Lunch: A hot lunch program is offered daily. Students have the option of ordering the school-served lunch option or bringing a home-packed meal.
Transportation: Pre-K Students are not eligible for busing UNLESS they are picked up or dropped off at a regular designated bus stop and are traveling with a K-6 grade student (according to the public school district policy).
